A New Me

When we were going through our home reno I felt like I couldn't take time to eat right or go to the gym, I felt like I needed to be at the house as much as possible. While this is true, I think for our sanity it would have been better for me to take a break and work out. I have mentioned this before, but I really do like working out. I like being sweaty and the sense of accomplishment after I'm done, it makes me a happier, more patient, more relaxed wife and mom. (fast forward to the beginning of December) I restarted the gym (as you can recall, Kadyn smashed her finger on 12/2 which was day one) but really wasn't getting that much out of it. I have always enjoyed the classes at my gym when we went to a different location (www.clubfitness.us) and finally decided to start some of them here in Webster. So starting two weeks ago, making sure that it was BEFORE New Years so it could just be a change and not a much hyped resolution, I decided to start food journaling. I did not eat healthy at all, we ate out way too much and my caloric intake was rather high....so I checked out what it should be using a highly sophisticated resource on the internet...which I found via google (what would we have done before google?) I knew I had gained a few pounds (14 since before I got pregnant with Isaac to be exact), but when the bold print popped up stating I was OVERWEIGHT for my height I was a little bit shocked. I'm no Kelly Ripa (don't really care for her except her fabulously toned arms), but I'm not what I consider "big" in my mind. So this is my challenge...to lose 14 pounds. I am revamping what we eat in our house and hitting the gym for an hour 5 days a week. I am continuing to count calories, mainly as a way to keep in check and this fabulous website: thecaloriecounter.com is a great help. The kids have even joined in and snacked on carrot sticks while I was fixing dinner last night, and they actually asked for them! Jason is not a fan of the redone menus, but if we find any great ones I'll be sure to post them too!

Please post any healthy and actually good recipes that you discover. I tried a few new ones this week and wasn't impressed. Go get 'em!

You can do it! Although, I would absolutely NEVER categorize you as "overweight". I actually laughed out loud when I read that. Give me a break...you're tiny. I'm in project skinny mode too though. I kind of hate it and wish that weight was a non-issue! Good luck!

On a side note, my word verification on this comment is "foodi." Ironic.

I totally agree with Evie! You ARE tiny! What kind of quack website are you looking at? I'd hate to hear what they would say about me! I wish I could work out with you gals! Darn this job leaving me with no energy!

Not liking healthy food must be a Magers trait. I am revamping our menus too and Nathan is none to happy about it. Stick with it though. I'm right there with you.
